Teenager Ivy (Bella Ramsey) is in remission from leukaemia. She is unimpressed when her parents sign her up for a summer camp for young people recovering from the disease. Despite her initial hostility, she makes friends there, and has experiences that will last with her forever.

George Jacques’ tear jerking comedy is a mixed bag. From scene to scene it changes from a clichéd depiction of a group of riotous teens to moments of genuine humour or emotion. I particularly enjoyed Ivy’s take down of a smug influencer and her exchanges with camp leader Patrick (Neil Patrick Harris) that have a raw truth to them.

I have not seen a lot of Ramsey before but she great as the fiery 17 year old and Stokes is excellent again as her flirtatious room mate. I was on alert from the opening moments at the camp when Patrick mentions that there will be a talent show on the last day, but thankfully that was not as embarrassing as I feared, despite the appearance of James Blunt!

An uneven film, but with worthwhile moments.
