Fisherman’s Friends was a quiet pleasure in 2019. A really well made feelgood film. This sequel has much of the original cast return, including James Purefoy as Jim, the band leader along with band members Rowan (Sam Swainsbury) and Leadville (Dave Johns). Whilst their first album was a success, Jim’s erratic behaviour following the death of his father has caused their record label to drop them. Can the band members pull together and win back their deal? Well, I think anyone watching will know the answer.
This has the same mixture of stunning scenery, songs and a warm-hearted story. Unfortunately, Tuppence Middleton does not reprise her role and her presence is missed, although Imelda May is fine as a newcomer who falls for Jim.
