Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise was a big hit in 2023, so a sixth entry in the franchise was bound to be made. Sébastien Vaniček and Florent Bernard have taken on writing duties, with Vaniček also directing. After the loss of her husband, Alice (Souheila Yacoub) stays with her in-laws in their secluded, and inexplicably dilapadted, family home. As one-by-one they are transformed into the dreaded Deadites.

For a horror movie to work at any level it either needs to provide chills using suspense or to be inventive with the way it despatches the hapless cast. This desperately poor franchise instalment does neither. Vaniček seems to think that just having loads of blood on screen and the volume turned up to ear piercing levels will make it scary. It does not. He also uses a washed out grey-blue colour palette that just added to my alienation.

The plot is incoherent and all the characters boring at best, unlikable at worst, I really did not care if they survived. I fully expect more sequels to follow, but I doubt I will be watching them.
