Sir Anthony Hopkins stars in this biopic of Nicholas Winton, a seemingly ordinary British stockbroker, who visits Czechoslovakia in the late 1930s and forms plans to assist in the rescue of Jewish children before the onset of World War II.
This story of the plight of refugees still feels timely nearly 90 years on, and unless your are a Suella Braverman acolyte, you will surely be moved. I have vague recollections of the 1980’s That’s Life episodes that brought Winton’s exploits to the nation’s attention and they are excellently recreated here.
The time switches between the 1930’s and 1980’s work well with Johnny Flynn playing Winton in the former and a superb Anthony Hopkins in the latter.
