This romantic comedy directed by Will Gluck, from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ilana Wolpert, is based on Much Ado About Nothing. Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) enjoy a blissful first date but then their relationship turns sour. However, in true romcom fashion, they find themselves at a wedding having to pretend to be a couple.

This somehow is a film that is more than the sum of its parts. Aside from it being based on a Shakespeare play, the plot is very familiar to anyone who has watched a few romcoms. Most of the obscenely wealthy people on screen are not that likeable, with Ben being obnoxious for a lot of the time.

But there are some genuinely funny moments and Sweeney, in a dramatic change of pace, shows she is adept at the genre as well as more serious parts she has excelled in recently.
