After 15 years together film director Ale (Itsaso Arana) and actor Alex (Vito Sanz) are breaking up. They decide to throw a party, like a wedding in reverse, to mark the occasion. Their friends and family are sceptical, but the couple are sure of their decision.

Jonas Trueba’s drama is easier to admire than like. His screenplay, written with the two leads cleverly melds their real lives with the movie they are making. So, as the film progresses it becomes harder to distinguish between the two. Arana and Sanz also give fine performances, adding to the naturalistic feel.

However, one of the themes of the film being made is repetition and that is mirrored by the one we are watching. Consequently, Trueba shows the couple telling friends and their family about their plan time and time and time again. I am not exaggerating in saying that takes up about half of the total running time and it becomes very wearying.

Impressive in some ways but I really felt the 114 minutes it lasted.
