Yellowstone’s Cole Hauser stars as Russ Potter, a stockbroker who has given financial advice to a number of people in his small town. When his advice turns out to be bad, and people lose money, he starts to receive threats. At the same time, he begins a relationship with his neighbour, Delaine (Jaimie Alexander) who is about to run an insurance scam.

This is a very curious film. It has received scathing reviews and I can see why. It feels cheaply made at times, some of the performances are poor, especially the awkward Hauser, and the story is resolved in a puzzling way. However, it does have a nice noir-ish atmosphere, some earlier plot twists work well. Morgan Freeman gives his most engaged performance for some time as the town sheriff and Jaimie Alexander makes a great femme-fatale.
