Antonio Banderas stars as Cuda, a mafia enforcer in Miami, working for Estelle (Kate Bosworth). He’s a career criminal, and as a result, is estranged from his wife and soon to be sixteen year old daughter. With that on his mind, when he sees 15 year old runaway Billie (Zolee Griggs) in trouble, he helps her out, setting in motion a deadly chain of events.
Years ago, this straight forward actioner would have gone straight to video/DVD and these days, it is surprise to find it released in the cinema rather than sending it directly onto streaming services. Almost as much as a surprise to see Banderas in such a nuts-and-bolts thriller. It is though, pretty well done. Director Richard Hughes keeps everything moving well enough so that the genre clichés can be ignored. Banderas is fine and Bosworth seems to be having a blast, chewing the scenery with relish.
