A group of twenty something students have their tarot cards read, thinking it is a bit of a lark. But then they start dying in ways related to their fortunes that were foretold.
Tarot has the same issues that a lot of horror films do. Most of the protagonists are pretty vacuous and they make dumb decisions. There is also one character, played by an increasingly typecast Olwen Fouéré wheeled out to provide a lot of clumsy exposition.
However, the Final Destination type premise is pretty bulletproof. Directors Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg create some tense set pieces with striking deaths. Also British born Harriet Slater makes an appealing heroine amongst an otherwise bland cast.
Tarot has some obvious flaws but as but it is a decent first time effort by Cohen and Halberg.
