Sisu is a Finnish concept described as stoic determination and is held by Finns themselves to express their national character. It is also the title of this new film, and you may find that you need that characteristic to sit through it.
It is set in remote Lapland in 1944 where retired commando and prospector Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tommila) discovers a significant deposit of gold. However, when he tries to take his haul to the nearest town he encounters a 30 man SS platoon led by ruthless Bruno Helldorf (Aksel Hennie) and his subordinate Wolf (Jack Doolan).
I really struggled with the jokey tone combined with gruesome violence. The Nazis are portrayed more like bumbling fools than ruthless killers, and, in a satirical context that might work, it did not here. The action becomes increasingly ridiculous and quickly tiresome.
