A very small release for this original and funny film means that a lot of people will not get a chance to see it, at the cinema, at least, which is a shame.
Carol, an unsuccessful voice coach becomes a successful movie trailer voice over artist, much to the dismay of her father who is one of the most prominent members of that profession. Despite the obvious interest of her producer who would be a perfect match for her, she also becomes involved with one of her father’s colleagues.
This is a gem of the film, written, directed by and starring Lake Bell as Carol. You get an insight into an unusual and intriguing world, whilst enjoying some great dialogue. Carol’s eventual relationship with the producer, Louis (Demetri Martin) feels fresh and real. The performances are solid throughout the cast, with Bell herself the pick of them.
