Snatched stars Goldie Hawn (Linda) and Amy Schumer (Emily) as mother and daughter who go on holiday to Ecuador together after self-obsessed Emily loses her job and gets dumped by her boyfriend. Whilst on an ill-advised day trip the pair are kidnapped and spend the rest of the film trying to escape from their captors and make it back to safety.

I have always had a soft spot for the comedies Hawn made in the 80s with Wildcats and Protocol being my personal favourites and, despite the near the knuckle humour, this really felt like a return to those days. I can imagine this being made 30 odd years ago with her playing the daughter. At a breezy 90 minutes there were enough laugh out loud moments to keep me entertained, even when the plot machinations took over towards the end, as they tend to do in action comedies.

Hawn is great, Schumer, an actress I haven’t warmed to in the past, shows that she does have some talent and Christopher Meloni makes a brief but funny appearance.

It shows signs of being cut a bit too much, with a cancer sub-plot being raised twice but going nowhere. But, otherwise, it is good fun throughout.
