Pete (Tom Stourton) meets up with his old university friends, who he has not seen for some time, for a weekend celebrating his birthday. He finds that they have invited along an odd guy who they met in the pub and who seems to take a dislike to Pete. Gradually all of his friends also appear to become hostile to him, or is Tom just paranoid?
This is a hard film to attach a genre to. All My Friends Hate Me has been billed as horror, but it does not feature real scares. Instead it becomes more and more unnerving as the weekend unfolds. At first, it seems strange that Pete is friends with a group of annoying snobs, but maybe we are just seeing them through his eyes…
Stourton is great and the rest of the performances, including Charly Clive in a small but key role as Tom’s girlfriend, are all spot-on. Stourton also co-wrote this with Tom Palmer and they are a pair destined for great things.
