The first Christmas set film out of the blocks this year is the sequel to 2016’s Bad Moms. The first film was a better than average mainstream comedy but this follow-up does not have the same amount of laughs. This time, our three mums, again played by Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn, and Kristen Bell are stressed-out by the upcoming festive season and things are not improved for them when they are visited by their mothers (Christine Baranski, Susan Sarandon, and Cheryl Hines).
The resulting mixture of foul-mouthed gags and slapstick is fairly predictable but does raise a few chuckles. The good performances especially from Baranski and Bell keep things moving, though Hahn is not someone I find funny at all. The saccharin ending, even for a Christmas movie, dilutes some of the earlier raunchiness, but this is an okay time passer if you are looking for a break from Christmas shopping.
