Rising star Jack Quaid headlines this action comedy film directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen. He plays Nathan Caine, a bank executive with the inability to feel pain, who tries to rescue his co-worker who he is in love with Sherry Margrave (Amber Midthunder), after she is taken hostage by a group of bank robbers.
You can see how this could get greenlit from that simple premise and writer Lars Jacobson wrings a lot of humour from it. One memorable sequence veers into Home Alone territory, something that Jacobson graciously acknowledges. The bone crunching injuries that Nathan suffers in his attempt to find Sherry will get a lot of people looking away, and you have to accept that irrespective of the pain thing, he would have been hospitalised way before the show down with the final bad guy.
It is all very silly and the actions of the police highly implausible, but the directing duo keep things zipping along at such a clip that the ridiculousness is easy to ignore.
