It is time for a round up of new films that I have seen on Netflix this month.
Kinda Pregnant
Amy Schumer, who co-wrote this comedy with Julie Paiva, stars as Lainey, who is obsessed about getting married, and especially having kids. On the day that she thinks her boyfriend is going to propose, but he instead suggests a threesome that causes them to break up, she learns that her best friend is pregnant. Consumed with jealousy, Lainey decides to wear a fake belly, but things become complicated when she meets the man of her dreams. If you can imagine how annoying to know someone as shallow and immature as Lainey in real life, you might understand how I felt about her character here. Schumer has been funny before, but apart from a couple of moments, her film here falls flat.

Aftermath
Hostages held on the Tobin Memorial Bridge in Boston, Massachusetts by ex-military revolutionists include a returning war veteran with PTSD, and his teenage sister played by Dylan Sprouse and Megan Stott. There is no way that I can claim that there is much original in this straight forward action flick. I am sure that the words ‘Die Hard on a bridge’ were used more than once whilst securing funding. However, the single setting works well, Sprouse is fine in a role that I would have thought might have suited someone older and more grizzled and Will Lyman acts everyone off screen as a Vietnam vet. There are no frills, but some thrills as the action comes thick and fast in this entertaining watch.

La Dolce Villa
After his daughter buys a cheap Italian villa to restore, Eric (Scott Foley) travels to Italy to intervene. This is thoroughly predictable stuff and it portrays a very romanticised, touristy view of Italy. But Foley is a charming presence, and thankfully his entitled daughter is side lined for large parts. A pleasant watch.
