Hit by a blizzard, grieving widow Barb (Emma Thompson) gets lost among backroads near a Minnesotan lake and stops for help at a remote cabin in the woods. Here she discovers a young woman, Leah (Laurel Marsden) kidnapped by a desperate, armed, couple, played by Judy Greer and Marc Mencha.

This is a nifty little thriller with Barb battling to survive the increasingly frantic kidnappers whilst also trying to rescue Leah. I don’t think that Thompson will be taking a Liam Neeson career turn but she is believably tough and resourceful, even without a special set of skills!

Writers Nicholas Jacobson-Larson and Dalton Leeb include too many flashbacks to Barb’s younger days to flesh out her character, but otherwise the simple nature of the plot works, helped by Brian Kirk’s lean, spare direction.
