David Koepp has adapted his own book of the same name, with Jonny Campbell directing. Joe Keery and Georgina Campbell star as Travis and Naomi, two employees at a self-storage facility built atop a former military base. Their night shift turns into a nightmare when a government sealed parasitic fungus escapes from the underground levels. Whilst the pair battle to save themselves, retired Pentagon bioterror operatives Robert Quinn (Liam Neeson) and Trini Romano (Lesley Manville) race to the site in order to eliminate the fungus.
I was not sure about Cold Storage to start with. With the use of captions, time shifts and a camera zooming through a body, I thought it might be too tricksy for its own good. But it soon settles down and turns out to be a fun, nonsense, horror-sci-fi-action hybrid.
Travis and Naomi are surprisingly likeable, well played by the leads and both Neeson and Manville attack their roles with gusto. It is also pretty funny, with some sharp dialogue and has a satisfying ending.
