In Richard Bracewell’s comedy, co-written with Patrick Dalton, Jason (Ethaniel Davy) is released from prison after a 10 month sentence for a crime he did not commit. He is unaware that his best friend, Lee (Ramy Ben Fredj) was the real culprit. When another friend, Paula (Amelie Davies), finds out that her elderly neighbour Kev (Graham Fellows) has accidentally grown a large quantity of weed on his allotment, she teams up with him and Jason to sell it.
This is scrappy stuff, obviously made on a low budget with a lot of inexperienced performers. Fellows is best known for his character John Shuttleworth and Kev is not a million miles from that, but he wrings out every laugh from the script. Although some of the supporting cast are lacking, Davy is good and Davies is excellent in her debut role. The three of them make a great team and I would like to have seen more of them trying to move and sell the drugs. We do get, though, one terrific scene of them meeting a dealer, amusingly played by Alistair Green.
That lack of story focus is the main weakness in what is otherwise a slightly ramshackle but engagingly funny film.
