A group of rich, vapid, 20 odd year olds assemble for a party in a mansion. They start to play a game that turns deadly.
I was not initially planning on seeing this. The trailers reminded me of the dreadful Spring Breakers from a decade ago and it was clear that the characters were all pretty loathsome. But good reviews lured me in and I am glad I did make the effort.
This is a very knowing film. Sarah Delappe’s script skewers the entitled rich twenty somethings with their accusations of gaslighting, triggering etc., and director Helina Rejin keeps things moving nicely. It remains difficult to work out who instigated the killings with the final resolution being very pleasing.
Much funnier than I expected and quite suspenseful.
